How to Pick a Stroller in 5 Steps

Does picking a stroller seem like a daunting and difficult task? Are you worried you are going to pick the wrong stroller and end up never using it?

Well in actuality, it doesn’t have to be a daunting and difficult task if you have the correct tools available. Although it will take a bit of time, with the correct steps to follow you will not have to worry about picking the wrong stroller.

In this article, we are going to be walking you through the 5 step process of how to a pick a stroller and provide you with the tools to do so.

Step 1: How/Where will you be using the stroller most?

The first step to picking out the best stroller is figuring out how and where you will be using the stroller most. This is the most important step in the process since everything else will be based on this decision. If you are able to pinpoint exactly how you will be using the stroller then the next step, choosing important features, will be much easier. Here are some examples of how the stroller may be used:

  • In the city on a daily basis, in place of a car.
  • Leisurely for walks or going to the park.
  • For Travel

Step 2: Which stroller features are most important to you?

Now that you have figured out how/where you will be using the stroller most, you can choose stroller features. This decision is based off of two things: 1. how the feature will affect the function of the stroller 2. specific features/enhancements that you want (ex: height-adjustable handlebar, reversible seat etc). Some features to think about are, safety, weight of the stroller, ease of fold, tires, storage, compatibility, enhancements and price. It is crucial to number the features in order of importance as well as write why each feature is important.

Step 3: Search for strollers that have those features

With your chart of important features in hand it is time to find strollers that have these features. The best way to do this is to skim through comparison charts and stroller reviews and make a list of the different strollers that match your list of features. Depending on how many features you have chosen it may or may not be hard to find strollers that have all of them since strollers aren’t perfect. Luckily, you have numbered the features in order of importance and wrote why each one is important. This is helpful because you can A. remember why you ordered it that way and switch it around as you see fit and B. look for strollers that have the top 3-5 most important features.

Step 4: Find out more details about the strollers

Now that you have a list of strollers that have either some or all of the important features it is time to narrow down the choices there are some really great resources to help with this:

  • Stroller reviews
  • Comparison charts
  • Amazon specifically the reviews from verified customers and the questions and answers that others have asked
  • YouTube videos
  • Trying out/seeing the stroller in real life, either by seeing if friends have any of the strollers you are looking into or by going to a brick and mortar store.

While going through these different resources write down what you like and don’t like about each stroller. I suggest creating an excel document (or Google sheet) to keep things all in one place and in order.

After going through all these different resources and reviewing your excel sheet you should be able to narrow down your list of strollers. By now you should have at most 3 strollers left to choose from all of which are probably very similar with only slight differences.

Step 5: Pick the best stroller

Here comes the hardest part, you have to pick which stroller you are going to buy! The best way to do this is to go through your excel sheet and really take note of which strollers have all/the most features you want plus the most extra things you like about it. As well, you can go through the different resources again to see if their was anything you missed before. If you are having a difficult time deciding between two strollers you can always buy both from Amazon try them out and return the one you don’t like.
